From the Touring Club of Italy, the country's foremost publisher of authoritative maps and guidebooks for over a century, this wine guide is ideal for travelers planning to visit vineyards and wishing to know all about the wines of Italy.
The wines of Italy are a delightful part of any visit to the Bel Paese, from the prized Brunello of Tuscany to the cheerful, easy-to-drink table wines produced in every region. The Italian Wine Guide is the complete guide to the world of these wines.
With 91 informative sidebars covering all 305 wines in the prestigious doc and docg appellations, this handbook offers notes on 744 wineries offering guided tours and tastings. To help in vacation planning, it describes 324 evocative winery towns where visitors can enjoy fine wines with local cuisine; and 99 detailed itineraries in the countryside, with a selection of hotels, rustic agritourism, and traditional inns and restaurants. Along with maps for every itinerary, the cartography covers 20 regions and 48 distinct vineyard districts, for a total of 167 maps.

Customer Review: Tour Club of Italy does it again!
We generally like the work of Touring Club of Italy. This wine book is no exception. It won't give you a subjective list of great wines--there are plenty of books and magazines filled with this information. Instead, it gives you genuine INFORMATION like the location of the DOC and DOCG zones, the exact requirements of each along with suggested driving tours through all the wine zones big and small. If you want to know what grape is used to make Rosso Conero, how large the production area is, what the typical percentage of alcohol might be and how long it must be aged, this book is for you. Look elsewhere for information on trendy wineries and lists of "Top 100" and other subjective rankings. This book is a valuable resource in our library.
